Privately commissioned artwork made entirely from hand-cut paper and cardstock. Inspired by the ocean’s naturally forming coral reefs, the work uses a variety of techniques including scoring, detail-cutting and paper sculpting. The artwork references the organic shapes and textures found in the diverse environment of underwater flora and fauna, such as foliose and digitae corals. Taking over three months to complete, the artwork features 26 individual coral types.
